Otep has released six studio albums, one live album and two EPs. They now are no longer bound to the Victory Records; rather they work with Napalm Records. Otep started as a band in the timer span of late 2000, in Los Angeles, California. The name Otep was given from the name of the female founder member and vocalist of the band Otep Shamaya. She also uses the name on the stage also. This means the amalgam of the word ‘poet’. The band was invited to perform in the Ozzfest just before they completed the signing under the label of Sharon Osbourne who has seen their performance. From that period of time, they have played several times in this famous festival. There are lots of member changing within the band.

Now, among the four members, only the vocalist is the founder member. All others have made their appearance recently. Each and every member has the tattoo love. The vocalist has full body tattoo. There are several arm tattoos in her hand. You will see an instance of breast tattoo where she has written ‘broken’ in the middle of her two breasts.
